WHICH IS MORE RELATED TO LITERACY SKILLS, COMPETITION OR COOPERATION? EVIDENCE FROM PISA 2018 RESULTS

Although previous research has demonstrated that school climate (leading to a of competition or cooperation) is related student achievement, including their literacy skills, there still insufficient evidence which the two climates more skills. Therefore, this study examined relationship between sets variables in PISA 2018 Results data: students’ perceptions (PERSCHL) and skills (LITERACY). The PERSCHL set consists level (PERSCOMP) cooperation (PERSCOOP) schools, while LITERACY mathematical (MATH), reading (READ), science (SCIE). was conducted answer questions: (1) student’s perception with skills? (2) one variable most influence on estimated using Graded Response Model (GRM), calculated from average 10 Plausible Value (PV) been available data Results. hypothesis tested canonical correlation analysis. results analysis showed positive competitive cooperative had significant association although small index. Second, have higher than schools but difference small. Both need be developed facilitate improvement individually collectively.
